About Janus Thinking

Janus Thinking is the research and consulting business of Isaac Mostovicz, a diamond industry veteran and consulting academic.

Mr Mostovicz retains a direct interest in the diamond industry through US-based Allied Diamonds, which offers a suite of marketing, sales and stock support services for diamond retailers around the world.

What we do

We can help our clients to dramatically improve their luxury marketing performance.

We have (and continue to develop) unique insight into how consumers interpret luxury, derived from an extensive empirical and action-research programme.

These Janus Thinking solutions can be applied to any luxury marketing challenge to improve the customer experience.

These experiences can be tailored to key customer segments based on motivational insights, or even tailored to individual customers.

We then work with those clients to ensure they can deliver those experiences consistently at the critical customer interface.

Who we are

Janus’s founder Isaac Mostovicz conducted both his MBA research and his ongoing PhD research into human interpretation and its manifestation in luxury retail situations.

His insights into luxury interpretation have appeared in a variety of academic journals.

The Janus Thinking methodology is a direct result of that research.

What is Janus Thinking?

We do not offer solutions for the simple reason that a manager should know his business better than any hired consultant. However, we are expert in asking question. Janusian thinking is about questions that cannot be answered and paradoxes that cannot be resolved. Adopting this philosophy, when we coach our clients we look for those unsolvable problems.

Most of what we call problems are actually called so only mistakenly because they can be solved. Unfortunately, these issues are disguised as complex questions or questions that can be approached in many ways, leading to paralysis as we are unsure how to choose from the many options possible.

Many would offer the Holy Grail of the day, just to figure out that sooner or later a different approach is needed. Such an approach will rock the ship and consequently, good people will leave the organisation at a heavy cost of restructuring and reorganisation.

We do not offer a solution but a good question. In looking for this ideal question we will visit many of the false questions that obscure the vision of the client and clarifying them. Our approach is not merely logic, although logic plays an important role in our consulting. However, our main goal is to create self-motivation. This is not done by words but by a structured action. We lead and encourage each of our clients to be self-motivated and to use the organisation’s social environment as a tool for this motivation.

We promise to leave you with a good question. A question that is worth pursuing for the rest of your life.
